SSRI Stories Page 16 I was prescribed lexapro by my internist who also claimed the Lexapro had no side effects. The first month I felt so nauseas, as if I was pregnant. However, for several months after....I felt great. I had NO sex drive, but I was happy and calm. Until one day, I noticed that my clothes were all getting small on me. I weighed myself Nov. 1---I reweighed myself January 28. I had put on 25lbs. And, you know what my doctor said..."oh, you must be eating too much, because Lexapro doesn't make you gain weight!" I weaned myself off of the drug (over a month month period) and also experienced HORRIBLE headaches. Thankfully, I have found a new MD who is trying to remedy the problem. In addition, if you are taking a birth control pill with Lexapro, it will only screw up your body chemistry even more. It has been 2 months without Lexapro and no weight has come off....Now I am fat and miserable! Lexapro should be banned from the market! I have been on Lexapro 10 mg for 8 days now...I am feeling very fatigued.. I was told this would end after a couple weeks.. I've been on Lexapro and Wellbutrin for a year. Depression much better but no energy---sleep 10 hours, still tired. Used to be very active, now an effort to move. Didn't connect it (possibly) w/ Lexapro but now wondering. Also gaining weight like crazy even tho I don't eat much. Crave sweets something awful. But THE WORST PART IS that Wellbutrin, w/ few side effects, was not helping depression by itself. So do I have to choose between obese or suicidal??
